Sip, Chat & Rate at the Coquito Masters Taste Off!

Hi Dolls,

Happy New Year!! This is my first post for 2016 and thank you to everyone who has stopped by to read my posts, view my videos and pictures, and read my recipes. It has been my pleasure to share my life events with you and I look forward to sharing many more throughout the new year.

On January 8th, I had the opportunity to attend the International Coquito Federation Coquito Masters Taste Off. Debbie Quinones, known as the Coquito Contessa and founder, took the time out to explain what Coquito is. Coquito has been called the “Puerto Rican eggnog” since its texture is similar to eggnog and some of the ingredients include alcohol, coconut milk, sweet condensed milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Coquito is also a drink that is usually made during the Christmas Holidays and the annual contest this year was held on Three Kings day.

At the Coquito Masters taste off there were three competitors, two from New York and one from New Jersey, battling for the best recipe of this traditional drink to become the Coquito Master of the Year. As an attendee, I was presented with a tally sheet to rate the competitor’s on the taste, color, consistency and a few other items. I sampled all three drinks, which were yummy by the way, and made my decision. At the end of the night, Linda Cortes from New Jersey became the 2015 North Regional Coquito Master. It was a fun night of sampling Coquito from the contestants, meeting new people and for me running in to old friends.

This event is a must on your to-do list when it comes back to the Tri-state area and for those in Orlando it’s coming to you on January 15th! Be sure to sign up on Eventbrite for their next event; http://www.eventbrite.com/
